Francophone Meeting 2017 in Reims

This year, oikos Reims celebrates its 10 years. In this occasion, a regional meeting was organized in Reims ( France ) in November 17th, 18th and 19th allowing to gather the various French-speaking chapters of oikos (Lille, Brussels and Lausanne ) as well as its alumni and members of oikos international (plus a special guest who wanted to learn French: Florian Repper from oikos Cologne ). During this weekend the participants discovered the theme of the Bioeconomy during conferences and workshops. We had the honor to have by our side Nicolas Béfort, engineer of Bioeconomy, Antoine Yvonnet, store manager of Symbiose in Reims, and Simon Dobosz, an entrepreneur in Eco-printing, to direct us on this concept and deepen our knowledge and reflections.

Besides, they discovered the specialities of Reims : OIKICHES, special organic meals of oikos Reims which are quiches made from organic products and Reims champagne through the visit of cellars of champagne Vranken Pommery.

It was a weekend of celebration and intercultural exchange. It was full of conversations and new encounters which allowed us to discover alumni’s best oikos memories and their careers, projects inside each current chapter, and learn from others.

Thank you for all, we were delighted to share  these good moments with all of you.

All the best,

La team oikos Reims

The Fundamental State of Leadership: Inspiring oikees to Make a Positive Impact

Professor Robert E. Quinn and almost 30 participants from the oikos LEAP Advanced Track were brought together on December 1, 2017, for the first webinar session of the season. oikees scattered around the world–from countries as far ranging as India, USA, and Azerbaijan–had an opportunity to learn about the Fundamental State of Leadership.

Professor Quinn  joined the oikos webinar for a third time to discuss the importance of transitioning oneself from a normal state to the fundamental state of leadership in order to have influence and become a positive force. According to Professor Quinn, to achieve this goal one has to find their purpose in life. Finding an answer to 4 important questions is crucial on this journey of self discovery:

  1. What results do I want to create? (What is my real purpose?)
  2. Am I internally directed? (Do I live according to my deepest values?)
  3. Am I focused on others? (Am I practicing empathy?)
  4. Am I externally open? (Am I ready to learn with other people?)

Robert E. Quinn is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and one of the co-founders of the Center for Positive Organizations. He has published 18 books about leadership, organizational change, and effectiveness. His best-selling volume, Deep Change, has sold over 100,000 copies and has been used across the world. His professional mission, in his own words, is to “inspire positive change”.

About oikos LEAP:

oikos LEAP is designed to inspire young leaders to become more responsible and sustainable in their decision making and equip them with insights, knowledge, and tools to do so.

oikos LEAP challenges participants to reflect on themselves and their values. Whilst adopting and sharing the lessons learnt in their chapters, participants practice sustainable leadership. The result is strengthened chapter performance and greater impact in line with the oikos mission. These basics will, moreover, accompany participants throughout their lives and result in change towards sustainability.

LEAP Advanced is the most demanding of three LEAP tracks–a 9-month concentrated leadership experience. The program is open to all oikos members. More info here: https://oikos-international.org/programmes/leap/leap-advanced/
