As there is an increasing amount of waste\, greenhouse gases\, and scarcity of natural resources\, we are running out of time. Implementation of Circular Economy and Sustainability in real life is urgently needed. \nIn Hong Kong\, people adopt a fast-paced lifestyle\, but recently\, people have been more aware about the importance of social and environmental impact of business practices that is the key to a more sustainable future. \nThrough this competition\, we are inviting participants to investigate a case by analysing the scenario and presenting innovative solutions. We provide a chance for students to develop a comprehensive solution and the opportunity to collaborate with like minded people\, experts\, and partners to carry out this mission. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nObjectives \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRaise awareness of waste reduction in Hong Kong \n\n\nHelp students acquire a sustainable business mindset by analysing real-life business case \n\n\nUnleash students’ potential by designing and developing innovative solutions \n\n\nEach year\, participants get to explore issues based on different fields of sustainability and come up with innovative solutions that prepare students to become the sustainable business leaders of tomorrow. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Case :  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Legislative Council passed the municipal solid waste-charging bill on 26 August 2021\, which means companies and public have to pay extra waste charges to the Government based on pay-as-they-throw principle when the legislation is enforced. The public will be driven by financial disincentives to drive behavioural changes towards waste reduction and recycling. \nAs a beverage manufacturing company\, we welcomed the legislation and are willing to share our corporate responsibility by kick starting initiatives that help the public to recycle. Swire Coca-Cola HK is committed to sustainable development. We strive to minimise the environmental impact of our packaging\, especially for our single-use plastic beverage packaging. We started launching the Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) under the “Tap\, Return & Earn” Beverage Bottles Redemption Scheme and jointly invested in the New Life Plastics – a first food-grade-ready PET recycling facility in Hong Kong. We always consider the needs of our community so we would like to pilot schemes that drive the development of convenient and effective long-term recycling from a public perspective (not limited to beverage packaging). \nParticipants should design a holistic proposal for developing effective recycling channels and methods\, which would encourage different sectors of the community to cherish resources and proactively reduce waste at source through clean recycling\, thus reducing overall waste generation. \nLearn more: https://sites.google.com/hongkong.oikos-international.org/oikoshkustsu/home

Find the password to enter the zoom room in the email sent to all chapters. \n\nMake sure that chapter president(s) or chapter representative(s) of each chapter register under the following link until October 16th\, 11:59 pm CEST. All other chapter members can drop in using the zoom link above without registration. \nNot registered chapter representatives are not allowed to vote on behalf of their chapter.  \nIn case the representative changes\, please directly adjust the registration form or contact or contact Luisa\, Darija or Sophie. \n\nWhat is the Legislative Assembly\, what’s a Legislative Meeting? \nThe Legislative Assembly is the supreme authority of oikos International. It is composed of all oikos Chapters with full membership. The Legislative Assembly holds a Legislative Meeting at least twice a year in order to get informed about the well-being of oikos International and execute their legislative power. Your vote as a chapter directly influences the future of oikos by deciding on strategic directions for the community as a whole. The attendance of every chapter is needed to ensure a transparent\, inclusive and democratic continuation of oikos. Due to reasons of accessibility and inclusiveness\, the legislative meeting will be held online. For those who have never used Zoom before\, please join 5 minutes earlier to get familiar with the tool (Here is a general guide). \n\nWho may attend? \nThe Legislative Meetings are open to all oikees. Every person present is encouraged to actively participate\, to ask questions and share their opinion. However\, only oikos Full Chapters have voting rights. In the meeting\, oikos Chapters are represented by a Chapter representative that is sent by the chapter (oftentimes\, that’s the president – but any chapter member can be chosen by your chapter to be its representative at the Legislative Assembly and vote on behalf of your Chapter). DESCRIPTION:oikos International is hosting the first ever oikos Curriculum Camp! The event will be in person in Sestriere\, Italy from approximately August 23 to 28th. \nCurriculum Camp is a week-long gathering for teams working on projects related to sustainability in economics and management education. \nThrough the Curriculum Camp\, we hope to support the development of participant’s knowledge and empower them to carry out their projects of producing a number of specific tools which can be useful to the oikos community in our work to integrate sustainability into economics and management education. At Camp\, teams\, including those formed at the FutureLab\, will have a chance to develop their skills and really focus on their projects\, working on the development of a single concrete output that can take your initiative forward. The event will feature an interactive program which will support the groups in further developing their projects\, and will offer training sessions on specific skills such as educational innovation\, interactive facilitation\, and creative communication. \nLearn more.
