It’s that time of the year again when we set sights on the future of our organization as we explore and define the goals and governance to guide oikos through 2025.
With the time approaching for the next oikos Co-president to begin their term, we first need to elect a strong Board to work alongside the Co-presidents and the rest of the oikos team in shaping the organization. The decision-making process in oikos is an inclusive one, based on transparency and democratic principles, it puts the student at the core of it, which defines us as a student-led organization. Therefore it’s an opportunity for you – the oikos Community to take up a role in this important process and have your say in creating a common vision of the future. You can do so in two ways – either by applying to become a candidate for the oikos Board yourself or discuss with your chapter and vote in its name at the Legislative Meeting when the election takes place.
Join the oikos Board
The call for oikos Board members is open to everyone in the oikos Community. It is a unique opportunity to put your leadership skills into practice and grow them further. As a Board member you take part in creating strategic decisions, foster close ties with our Community and represent oikos externally. It is a playground for energetic leaders and problem-solvers who take on different challenges as they work towards turning their visions of oikos into reality. If you find yourself interested in seizing this opportunity, click here to learn more about it.
In order to support everyone interested in applying for the 2025 oikos Board, we have prepared two Info Calls which are to take place on 2 and 8 October. This way you can get all the relevant information as well as first-hand testimonials from the current Board members and oikos Co-presidents. Access the calls via Zoom.
Vote at the Legislative Meeting
The Legislative Meeting is the most important event for our organization which takes place biannually in Spring and Autumn. The Autumn Meeting will take place online on 26 October at 10am CEST/ 1:30pm IST/ 4pm CST (find your timezone). The final agenda will be communicated ahead of time, however, one traditional voting subject will be the election of new oikos Board members. The voting is done on behalf of chapters and each chapter has a single representative who casts the vote. That representative can be any member a chapter decides to appoint to the role. Other chapter members are also allowed to attend the Legislative Meeting and participate in discussions, however without voting rights.
The registration for oikos Chapter Representatives will open a month prior to the Legislative Meeting. Without it, your chapter won’t be able to vote. We will provide all of the information necessary in due time, so keep an eye on your oikos emails, oikos website and social media where we will communicate them.
