bringing oikos to your university
Chapter Incubator is designed to support the founding and development of new oikos chapters, onboard students into the oikos community, and kick off their broader learning journey. oikos Chapters are student associations at universities or business schools, where they organize locally to take agency in driving change in economics and business education.
The Incubator develops the skills needed to build an impact-driven organization and community on their university campus. Participants undertake an impact venture-building journey, focusing on transforming business education and designing their organization for long-term institutional impact. Through collaboration, co-creation, and leadership, students explore how to embed sustainability, systems thinking, and social impact into their universities.
It supports students in creating something that lasts: an engaged chapter with the confidence, clarity, and structure to begin shaping positive change in their learning environment. Building a thriving oikos chapter means understanding how universities function as systems, practicing collaborative decision-making, and learning how to turn ideas into impactful action. Through this program we help build sustained student engagement towards sustainability in business school campuses.
oikos International stewards a network of local chapters that engages students worldwide into meaningful action. The wealth of knowledge and experiences that oikos members and alumni bring fosters both personal and organizational growth. This network presents an important element of Chapter development. Not only does it create opportunities for national or international collaboration, but also places students at the decision-making process. Chapters have a say in how oikos International is run, by having representatives in the Legislative Assembly and the Board. This core dynamic of students actively participating in running it make oikos a student-led organization and network.

The first steps of a learning experience
We created the workshop as the first step to turn your motivation into action. You don’t need any prior experience or knowledge – this is a learning process from the very start! Within our role as stewards of oikos student community, we provide guidance through mentorship, resources, and knowledge sharing, helping you take further actionable steps. As an aspiring oikee, you’ll have easy access to our know-how and the oikos International team to support you along the way.
The refined application process creates a clear and navigable timeline for completing the required steps. This includes planning and execution of a new association at your university within two months following the initial workshop. Opening an oikos chapter is a valuable learning experience in itself. You can pick up experience in governance, recruitment, communication, and stakeholder engagement, while connecting and collaborating with like-minded peers from other universities.
