We successfully launched this year’s oikos Academy last weekend and over the next five months, the program will support 8 projects managed by their respective local teams!
oikos Academy is our longest-running program, with its first rendition taking place back in 2003. It has since taken many different shapes and forms but maintained the original goal of engaging students and further improving their knowledge in various fields of sustainability while encouraging them to take up the role of change agents. Since 2019 the Academy’s main focus has been on Curriculum Change, which made it into a platform for reflecting and learning about innovative economics and management educational programs, as well as teaching methods that are capable of addressing the current global environmental and social challenges. Through combining the online and in-person aspects it fosters change both on campuses of local teams that are a part of it and beyond, by engaging a global audience.
Six oikos Chapters in Barcelona, Graz, Jamshedpur, Kano, New Delhi and Warsaw along with tho non-chapter teams in Geneva and Laxenburg are a part of this year’s program. Over the course of oikos Academy these teams will enjoy the support for their projects through specially tailored sessions and workshops from our team focused on various aspects of managing a project in the field of transforming education. Building upon the foundations of the last year’s Academy, we are once again bringing it together with our LEAP program in a form of collaboration that will provide an important pillar of support. The eight oikos Academy teams will be matched with LEAP participants who will have the role of mentors in the process of developing the projects with monthly mentoring sessions.
