Meet the Candidates for oikos Board 2024!

The Legislative Meeting draws near and as our team is taking on the final preparations, we’re happy to present to you the candidates for oikos International Board for 2024! These candidates have applied to be elected by the representatives of oikos Chapters to form the new Board, in alphabetical order:

Yusuf Armayau – oikos Kano
My name is Yusuf Armayau Yusuf, born on 30th May 1998 in Katsina State, Nigeria. I had my primary, and secondary school, Diploma(ICT), and National Diploma(Civil Engineering) all in Katsina State and Bayero University Kano for a full-time Bachelor’s degree (Civil Engineering), where my journey to become a Global Citizen and working with the SDGs started. My SDGs of interest are SDGs 4, 11, & 13. Also, I have volunteered with over 20 NGOs, networked with people from more than 60 countries across all the continents and travelled to 29/36 States in my country. I love volunteering and am passionate about reading, exploring, researching, and diversity.
Elza Krimela – oikos Barcelona
I am a second year BBA student in Esade Business school. I am from a small town in Latvia, but I currently live in Barcelona, Spain. I was raised close to nature in a family of entrepreneurs, so I am passionate about sustainability and finance, especially if they are interconnected: for example in impact investing. I believe in each person’s direct impact on the future of our planet and on the lives of the people around us. I am proud to be a part of Oikos and excited about the opportunity to help spread the responsible and thoughtful perspective Oikos brings to oikees and other people we reach all around the world!
Abubakar Magaji Dawud – oikos Kano
Abubakar Magaji Dawud was hails from Tudun Wada local government of Kano State, Nigeria.
Has attended Bayero University Kano from 2015 to 2023 prior to which he completed his secondary school education at Sani Bello Science College Dawakin Kudu from 2012 to 2015. He had his basic education at Madrasatul Ulumuddinil Islam, Rigasa Kaduna from 2003 to 2009.
Abubakar is a renowned students leader, advocate for SDGs and good governance, activist, and a member of numerous advocacy and leadership groups. Abubakar is now a current and active member of Oikos Kano and has been there since 2021.
Rakesh Panigrahi – oikos Jamshedpur
Rakesh is a person with both creative and technical skills as he did his bachelor’s in architecture from NIT Calicut and MBA from XLRI. He was a continuous recipient of the Prime Minister Scholarship for 4 years. After graduation, he worked as an architect in a start-up for a few months before co-founding his own firm. He stood in the top 10 students of his class and has bagged multiple scholarships. He loves experimenting and studying different fields like design, urban planning, sociology, etc. In the past he has been a strategy consultant, a national-level mentor, visiting faculty at TIME and IMS for CAT, and GMAT students and an asset management & sustainable investing intern. He is also learning more about Management Consulting and Marketing Communications. He was honoured as the “Most Promising MBA Student 2022” by InsidellM and as the HUL Changemaker. He was also part of the fully funded Linkedin India’s first Creator Accelerator Program. I am passionate about Sustainability, Ethics and business and actively create content about it. I have actively spoken about Climate change and ESG, connecting with more than 1,000+ professionals in this domain. He was also selected as the Global Coordinator for the Ambassador Taskforce by UN PRME, which works to improve management
Antonia Pohlmann – oikos Graz
Over the past four years, my involvement with oikos has evolved into an integral part of my life. My aspiration to serve on the oikos International Board is driven by a desire to give something back to the community while also applying my leadership skills in practice.
I am an active, driven, reliable, creative and open-minded person with key strengths in communication, achievement, learning and winning others over. I have been working with sustainability-related topics for multiple years now, including pursuing a Ph.D. and being a sustainability consultant. As an oikos Board member, I’m excited to leverage my unique blend of experiences, communication skills and passion to inspire oikos chapters, represent the oikos community and make a meaningful impact.
Mehak Sharma – oikos Jamshedpur
I am Mehak, a 22-year-old student in India pursuing a Masters in Human Resource Management at XLRI Jamshedpur. As the secretary of SIGMA oikos the Jamshedpur chapter, I have been able to focus on creating wider and deeper impacts. I wish to help others reach their goals and conserve the home we live in. Whenever asked what I wish to be in future- I always aim to be the best version of myself. I absolutely love meeting new people, exploring opportunities and ensuring I share my happiness with others. I am also a huge bibliophile with a passion for exploring new music.

Arjun Srivastava – oikos Delhi

I have experience in administration within the taxation department of the Government of India. I have also trained both civilians and armed forces in krav maga (self-defense). Currently, I am pursuing a postgraduate degree in management, specializing in operations and finance. I am an active member of the Delhi Chapter of Oikos International.

Victoria Yavorskaya – oikos Graz

Victoria Yavorskaya is an oikos Graz alumni, a LEAPer from the 2023 cohort, and a PhD student in sustainable innovation management at the University of Graz. She came to Austria all the way from Vladivostok to get a MSc Degree in Sustainable Development. She was engaged with oikos Graz during April 2021 – June 2023. At that time, she got a chance to co-organize the ICC and become a board member of her home chapter. One of her main activities as a co-leader was partnerships that help to amplify the voices of oikees and the impact that they’re having.
